Why a website’s history matters
Scam shopping, trading and “part-time job” sites usually appear a few weeks before they start taking money, then vanish. A site the Internet Archive has seen for years, with a domain registered long ago, is far less likely to be a throw-away scam.
For businesses: since the DPDP Act 2023 and DPDP Rules, any website collecting personal data in India needs a clear notice, consent, a grievance contact and ways to withdraw consent or delete data. Need help? Talk to Infrared Techno.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the history come from?
From the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, which has been saving copies of public web pages since 1996, and from the official domain registry (RDAP) for the registration date.
What is the DPDP Act?
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 is India’s data-protection law. It requires notice and consent for collecting personal data, rights to correction and erasure, a grievance contact, parental consent for children and breach reporting.
Why are ad trackers highlighted?
Advertising pixels (Meta, Google Ads, LinkedIn, TikTok) share visitor behaviour with ad platforms. Under DPDP this needs clear notice and consent.
