- og:title 40–65 characters, og:description 100–160 characters.
- og:image: absolute https URL, 1200×630 px JPG/PNG, under ~300 KB, key content in the centre square (WhatsApp crops it).
- Declare og:image:width and og:image:height so the image shows on the first share.
- Add twitter:card = summary_large_image for big previews on X.
Frequently asked questions
Why does WhatsApp not show my image?
Usual causes: no og:image, a relative image URL, an image over roughly 300 KB, a blocked or slow image server, or an old cached preview. This checker flags each of these.
How do I refresh an old link preview?
Run the URL through the Facebook Sharing Debugger and click “Scrape again”. This refreshes Facebook and usually WhatsApp. For a quick test, add ?v=2 to the end of the link.
What size should a share image be?
1200×630 pixels (1.91:1). Keep the logo and important text inside the central 630×630 square so the WhatsApp thumbnail still looks right.
